        Dr. Isidoro Zarco M.D.    

   

 

   Education

    Doctor Isidoro Zarco attended Harvard University from 1972-1976, where he graduated with honors with a Cum Laude degree in Biochemistry. From 1976-1980, he attended the University of Miami School of Medicine. He continued his training with an internship in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1981.  He successfully achieved his dream of becoming an Ophthalmologist by completing an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas in 1984.

 

Recognition and Awards

    Dr. Zarco has received numerous awards and recognition for his academic and professional achievements. He was selected as one of America's Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer's Research Council of America. In addition, Dr. Zarco is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of both the Miami Ophthalmology Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.  Dr. Zarco was involved with extensive cancer research at the University of Miami Department of Microbiology. He became a co-author of several research publications.

 

Experience and Services

    Dr. Zarco has vast experience in treating medical and surgical conditions in Ophthalmology. He has performed thousands of micro-surgical eye procedures, including advanced cataract surgery, cornea transplants , Lasik, Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), glaucoma surgeries and retina detachments. He has also performed thousands of laser treatments for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, retina tears, retina vein occlusions and other eye pathology.

    Dr. Zarco prides himself in being up to date with the latest techniques in modern eye surgery. He performs custom Lasik for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. He also offers the most advanced intraocular lenses available, including the multifocal lens, the accommodative Crystalens, and the toric astigmatism acrylic intraocular lens.

 

Background

     Dr. Zarco has had a strong interest in helping people restore their sense of sight from an early age. After completing his extensive training in 1984, Dr. Zarco returned to Miami where he established his private practice in Ophthalmology. He continues to practice in Miami where he has successfully established a reputation as a knowledgeable clinician and an experienced, high quality surgeon.

 

Hospital Affiliations

    In addition to his private practice, Dr. Zarco is on the staff of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Coral Gables Hospital and the Santa Lucia Surgery Center. His surgeries are performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.
